Given that the author is burdened to nurture new believers, this thesis designs an 8-lesson Nurturing Course for New Believers, including a DVD consisting of teaching materials to match the course, hoping to assist the Presbyterian Churches in Singapore to promote nurturing of new believers.
In order to ascertain the concepts better, the author visited the pastoral ministers of various churches under the Chinese Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Singapore, to understand their ministries in nurturing new believers; and with their assistance, a total of 809 brothers and sisters were surveyed on their views on nurturing of new believers.
There are seven chapters in this thesis: in Chapter 1, the author shares his motivation, purpose, scope and methodology in writing the thesis. In Chapter 2, the author analyzes the results of interviewing the pastoral ministers, and the results of the survey on nurturing new believers. Chapter 3 is a brief synopsis of the course syllabus (please refer to appended course notes). In Chapter 4, the author discusses the design of the Nurturing Course for New Believers. In Chapter 5, the author mentions the implementation of the Nurturing Course for New Believers. In Chapter 6, the author shared the results of the feedback conducted by the author himself and seven other churches. Chapter 7 is the conclusion.
